4-H and FFA youth livestock shows returning to State Fair

Virginia 4-H and FFA officials have announced that the organizations’ youth livestock shows will return to the State Fair of Virginia in 2013.

The shows will be held Oct. 3-6 and will serve as the culminating activity for youth participants’ livestock projects. The market and breeding shows for beef cattle, swine, sheep and meat goats will be open to all Virginia 4-H and FFA members. Read more

Va. Farm Bureau Federation acquires full ownership of State Fair of Virginia

The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation entered into an agreement March 14 to assume full ownership of the State Fair of Virginia and The Meadow Event Park from Universal Fairs LLC of Cordova, Tenn.

Farm Bureau, which had been 50-percent owner since last July, entered into an agreement on the remaining 50 percent and will continue to operate the State Fair and many other events on the historic 331-acre property. Read more
