UPDATE: Youth livestock show postponed
In light of the weather forecast for this weekend, the State Fair of Virginia, 4-H and FFA have postponed this weekend’s youth livestock show until Friday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 11, at The Meadow Event Park.
This decision was made to ensure the safety of our show participants and their families and animals and to ensure that exhibitors receive the recognition their work so richly deserves. The show will be open to the public, and a schedule is available here. The Youth Livestock Sale of Champions will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, with a reception beginning at 5 p.m. and the sale following at 6.
Statement regarding weather-related closing of State Fair
Due to the threat of heavy rain and possible severe weather, the State Fair of Virginia will close at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1 and will not reopen for the remainder of the 2015 season.
“Safety is the fair’s No. 1 priority for our customers, vendors, exhibitors and workers,” said Marlene Pierson-Jolliffe, vice president of operations for The Meadow Event Park. “We feel it is important to respect the governor’s state of emergency declaration, and we realize that our law enforcement and emergency medical service personnel may be needed elsewhere during this impending storm.”
Patrons who purchased but have not yet used single-day admission tickets and season passes will be able to exchange them via mail for a single-day admission ticket for the 2016 State Fair of Virginia, which will be held Sept. 30 through Oct. 9. Unused Ride Wristband vouchers can be exchanged via mail for a wristband voucher for the 2016 State Fair.
To receive the 2016 tickets or vouchers, ticketholders should mail their unused 2015 tickets, passes and vouchers to: State Fair of Virginia, Attention: Ticket Office, P.O. Box 130, Doswell, VA 23047, along with the guest’s name, address, telephone number and email address. A confirmation email will be sent to guests once the information is received. All returned tickets, passes or wristband vouchers must be postmarked by Oct. 30.
