Dairy Days at the Fair: Presented by Farm Credit

The 2023 State Fair of Virginia will be hosting our second annual Milk Mustache Contest presented by Farm Credit as part of our 'dairy days' partnership with the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, Virginia State Dairymen's Association, The Dairy Alliance, Farmview Creamery and the Virginia Tech Dairy Science Club to highlight the Federation's "Milk for Good" campaign to provide Virginia milk to families in need in coordination with the dairy shows happening during the opening weekend of the fair.

During the 2022 State Fair, the 'Milk for Good' initiative raised over $7,000. More than 3,000 half-gallons of locally processed milk were distributed through the Federation's statewide pantry network last fall as a result.

According to the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, "milk is one of the most requested yet least donated items to Virginia's food banks." Most families served by Virginia food banks receive less than 1 gallon of milk per year.

Established in 2019, Milk for Good has supported the distribution of over 200,000 half gallons of fresh, locally processed milk to Virginia families.
