Blue Ribbon Craft Beer Fest

The Blue Ribbon Craft Beer Fest will take place Oct. 5 from 2pm-7pm. Attendees will receive a souvenir tasting glass and enjoy unlimited 4 ounce tastings from over 20 Virginia breweries. Participating breweries are updated weekly.

This event is a partnership between the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild and State Fair of Virginia to celebrate the booming independent craft beer industry in the state and introduce a new audience to this unique agricultural product. Fest attendees will have the opportunity to interact with owners, brewers and representatives from throughout the commonwealth and enjoy their fantastic products while listening to live music from Jack Ryan Unplugged and enjoying food provided by Publix Aprons Catering.

Tickets are $30 and include fair admission, or $20 for beer event only (separate admission required.)
Tickets to the event can be purchased day of (if available) at the fair for $25. Fair admission must be purchased seperately.

VPM | PBS KIDS Family Day

Join us Tuesday, 10/1, from 11AM – 5PM for VPM | PBS KIDS Day! PBS characters Buddy from “Dinosaur Train” and Daniel from “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” will be appearing at the fair and interacting with their youthful fans, making for a memorable family outing.
Daniel and Buddy's appearance schedule is below:

Tuesday 10/1 is also Take Off Tuesday, where adult tickets are ON SALE at the gate for ONLY $8 (orig. $15). Bring your young ones to the fair on PBS KIDS Day at the lowest possible price for adults. Adult tickets must be purchased at the gate to receive the $8 sale price. Sale does not apply online. No other discounts apply.

"Celebrate Virginia" Publix Apron's Cooking Schoolfeaturing Barboursville Vineyards

Friday, Oct. 4th at 6:30 p.m., sit back, relax and let our chefs do the cooking. Enjoy delicious menu items and ask questions as we walk you through each recipe. Sourcing from local growers and featuring Barboursville Vineyards, this dining experience celebrates all the Commonwealth has to offer!

APPETIZER -Grilled Provolone, Grilled Chorizo, Fried Green Tomato and Roasted Jalapeno Aioli
COURSE 2- Salad of Batavia Red and Green Lettuce, Roasted Butternut Squash, Candied Pecan and Bacon Apple Cider Vinaigrette

Meadow Hall Mansion Tours

Enjoy a special opportunity to tour Meadow Hall during the 2019 State Fair of Virginia. The stately mansion sits atop the site of the ancestral homeplace of Christopher Chenery, who founded Meadow Stable in 1936.Step back in time to its glory days as your narrator walks you through the Meadow Champion Galleries and the Triple Crown Room.

View the exclusive Chenery Collection of personal family items and memorabilia from the beloved “First Lady of Racing” herself, the late Penny Chenery. Learn how this fabled Virginia farm produced an American legend, Triple Crown champion Secretariat, and how his fiery bloodlines live on in Thoroughbred racing today. After your mansion tour, be sure to visit the Secretariat booth and the historic barns nearby.

Sale of Champions

The 2019 State Fair of Virginia will hold the Sale of Champions at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. The sale celebrates the hard work of Virginia 4-H and FFA participants, and auction proceeds will benefit the State Fair scholarship fund and aid the fair’s continued support for youth across the commonwealth. Virginia's Finest Sundays

Enjoy a Celebration of Virginia's Finest at the State Fair of Virginia! Both Sundays of the fair, Sept. 29 and Oct. 6, the Blue Ribbon Tent will host multiple vendors from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services trademark program. This program promotes Virginia agriculture and specialty foods that come from the commonwealth.
Enjoy shopping a variety of soups, peanuts, coffee, snacks, sauces and more!

Black Tie & Boots

2019 Black Tie & Boots—Mingle at The Meadow—A VIP preview-night celebration of the State Fair of Virginia will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, and will feature live music by Honky Tonk Heroes, fair-style surprises, fabulous live and silent auction items, award-winning Virginia wines, an open bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
