At the Strawberry Hill Races, Local Charities are the Real Winners
|

Thanks to all who participated in the 77th Running of the Strawberry Hill Races, April 11 at Colonial Downs in New Kent county. Thousands can be proud knowing their patronage of the Races and Race Week events benefitted the Animal Adoption Rescue Foundation, Cats Cradle, Children’s Museum of Richmond, Circle Center Adult Day Services, Friends of the Richmond Mounted Squad, Math Science Innovation Center, Maymont Dooley Noted Society, Richmond Ski Club in support of the Special Olympics, the United States Equine Rescue League and the State Fair of Virginia Scholarship Program. |

On Thursday, September 24, SFVA begins an important chapter in the State Fair of Virginia’s 155-year history, with the opening of the State Fair’s new home at The Meadow Event Park, a 360-acre property 25 miles north of Richmond in Doswell, Virginia. Here, the State Fair continues its longstanding mission of showcasing the best of Virginia’s animals and agriculture, while offering families a fun, safe experience with competitions, exhibits, shows and rides.
Each year, approximately 250,000 visitors – mostly families with children – experience this annual Virginia tradition where they can enjoy animals, agriculture, and exhibits that exemplify the Best of Virginia.Nearly 15,000 students and their teachers |

annually experience “Virginia’s Largest Outdoor Classroom” through school tours and 33 youth competition categories awarding scholarships. Since its inception in 1989, the State Fair has awarded 2,704 scholarships and has dedicated over $1.7 million through the State Fair Scholarship Program.
The State Fair invites Virginians young and old to experience this Virginia tradition in a beautiful, rural setting, with open grassy fields, views of rolling hills and forest, yet conveniently close to Richmond, Fredericksburg and other destinations.
